I would not recommend Blue Apron to people who cannot do this. I have enough cooking experience and knowledge to recognize when the recipes are poorly written so I can prevent them from being awful. Our delivery comes regularly on Thursdays and have come to enjoy opening the box to see what is in it, even when the ingredients and cooking methods end up being stupid. Because everything is pre-packaged and measured out we have reduced our food waste by a lot. My wife and I have seen better numbers at the doctor's office since eating these meals. On the other hand, with a bit of skill I have been able to rescue most of the recipes so that they still taste good. If you limit the number of people who can talk about the problems with recipes you don't have to deal with having incompetent people coming up with them. That may be why they only allow you to comment on individual recipes if you sign in with Facebook, which I have cancelled.

(It's science - bread stored in the fridge gets overly chewy and tough because of the way the structure of the bread interacts with the environment of the fridge.) It's like they hired people to develop their recipes that only have a vague notion of how to cook. They say to store it in the refrigerator even though that is something you should never do. They send bread for some sandwiches that gets moldy really, really fast. Everything is cooked in olive oil, regardless of whether or not that is the best choice.
